Guatemala City

Just a quick heads up that everything regarding my flight went well and I arrived savely at Aurora Airport in Guatemala City, yesterday at 19.45 local time.
The flight was long but as I am reading "the Dice Man" by Luke Rhinehart at the moment (thanx JA) it did not seem too long. I met a nice Tico called Moses who thought it was hilarious that he was 2 month older than me and girl from Denmark who I lost again at Aurora Airport as she was hunting down someone who could tell her how and when she would get her luggage which stayed overnight at San Jose.
Well Tina if you ever read this: I am sorry, I really planned to wait for you and did for some time but as you did not show up I eventually left for the hostal.
Btw, if you ever plan to stay in Guatemala City and need a convenient and close-to-the-airport place I can only recommend to book a room at Oscar's "Hostal Los Vulanes" www.hostallosvolcanes.com.

Two weeks to go

In two weeks from now I will be flying to Guatemala! I feel like I have waited so long now, I can hardly believe it is coming up.
Let me tell you, going away for a while sounds like nothing big, but if you are Swiss and if you are registered everywhere and insured against everything, it is not as easy as it seems.
I am fighting with a lot of burocracy at the moment.. unbelievable what you have to think of...
Plus as you know I am packing up my things. So just to give you an impression of the atmosphere in my house:

My Last Day at eBay

Well, so it is finally here - my last day at eBay!

This blog entry is a speacial thank you note to all my eBay (well I hate to say it) "ex-colleagues:

You guys are awesome!! Thank you so much for everything!
You make it really hard for me to leave. A special thank you goes out to all of you who have been so extremely generous, I am very positive that I can now go to Xela and actually make a big difference to the lives of many children. You have really amazed me with all the support you are giving me, not only financially but also with all your good wishes, I hope you know that you motivate me a lot.
Some time ago I hardly couldn't wait to stop working and start cleaning out my house. I still need to make it ready for Chris to move in. But well, now today I actually do get a little nostalgic.
6 years is a long time… (well, at least in such a young life as mine (21, maybe 22??) ;)).
I must say I really enjoyed working here. Sometimes work almost took my life over and my “non-eBay”- friends were complaining a lot. They told me that I either work or speak about work… Well, I guess this is what happens if you really like what you are doing.
I had the chance to grow and learn and to develop many new skills, ok I also had the chance to spend a lot of long nights on my desk and dreaming about what I had to deliver the next day. But let's speak and think about the good memories only as they are so much more prominent.













I will miss eBay.

In the first place I will miss all you people. I always thought that it is quite amazing to work with about 90 people here in Berne and many more across EU and the world and not know one amongst them who I could not imagine to go out and have a beer with; that I don’t like beer, is just a minor detail in this case.
I will also miss my coffee (the "creamy easy made" milk foam!!) in the morning; as you know I normally came in without any breakfast and still half asleep and blind… sure, I am the morning person ;).
I will miss my parking space and the feeling of coming home when I walk up the stairs in the eBay building… well I will stop or my emotions take over and this entry get's really cheesy.

Anyways, I wanted to say, you are an amazing bunch of people and it was really great to work with and for you!!
